The Accelerated School is a fiscally independent charter school under the California Charter School Act currently serving 360 students in grads K-8. The majority of TAS families are considered "working poor", with 43% of households earning less than $15,000 annually. The main institutional goal of TAS is to provide students with a rich and challenging curriculum and integrated community programs so that each child's potential can be realized so students will be prepared to succeed at the university of their choice.
The Atlas Family Foundation provides funding for the W.M. Keck Early Learning Center to provide a high quality, pre-educational preparation program for children 0-5 in an age appropriate environment that is safe, interesting, engaging and maximizes learning. This is the beginning stage of a long-term plan to develop a continuum of services that will comprise a 0-5 program for children from the community as well as serve as a training and resource center for parents, child care providers and educators throughout the region.
